Media Project- Research through FINDS
Grades K-2 are learning the FINDS Research Process through various activities- Students learn to use the research process model by researching various information in our online database (student portal). Pebble Go, Early Learning by World Book. While in media class, students worked on their research projects of ocean animals, influential African American, and influential women. Students are developing their own Adobe Express videos.

Grades 4 - " Kindness" Collaboration Unit with our Guidance Counselor, Administration and Media Program. All students have been selected to become "Ambassadors of Kindness"and have used the research process model to research about kindness, character, digital citizenship, digital etiquette, respect, conflict resolution, and goal setting skills. This is an example of a student's public announcement video he completed as part of his "Kindness" Project. Click here to watch his Jim Harbin video submission.

The unit was presented to the students through a Pear Deck presentation.
*Focus- brainstormed subtopics of kindness, students selected their subtopics
*Investigated- Students looked up definitions of various words, read various character building books, watched BrainPop video, and
use WorldBook Encyclopedia.
*Notes were take on the FINDS handout (paper and pencil) or Google Slides
*Develop public service videos about kindness using Adobe Express
*Scoring will take place using project rubric and presentations will be made during our movie day watch party. Also all the videos of our Ambassadors will be be shown during the morning announcements.

U.S. States Project Lesson Plan
This research project will take students through the FINDS Research Process. Students will learn how to research information through various print and online sources. The state project is an integration and curriculum enhancement to classroom Social Studies lessons.

Media Science Project Grades 3 & 5 (ocean animals & water cycle impact)
This project supports and enriches the classroom Science Curriculum. Students take the FINDS Research Process Model to research information on various ocean animals to create an information movie on Adobe Express. They gather information using BrainPop, NASA, World Book, and nonfiction books through MyOn. The project promotes creativity, digital learning, problem-solving skills, research skills, writing skills, and reading skills. It is an excellent experience for students to take complete ownership of their learning and express what they have learned through their movies.

Grades 3-5 Branches of Government & Constitution- sources:BrainPop, Library of Congress
Lesson objective is to learn about the civics and government. Through various BrainPop videos, primary sources, nonfiction books students will gather information about the U.S. Constitution and Branches of Government. The FINDS research process model will be used. Students learned about primary sources and secondary sources, as well as how to navigate through the Library of Congress website to obtain information. The final product was for students to create their own BrainPop videos about the Constitution and Branches of Government.
