DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP

In the age of technology and social media, it is imperative that our students have a complete awareness of digital citizenship. In teaching about digital citizenship, students understand that "stranger danger" also applies to the internet. All the lessons within the unit, ensures that students gain a greater understanding of internet safety, so they can identify the dangers online, make good choices, and seek help from an adult.

BrainPop Jr. and BrainPop were used to teach these units. The videos help put topics into perspective and also generate valuable class discussions. These lessons made it easy for students to relate to the topic with the popularity of online resources. The activities in this unit helped students become aware of the dangers of online interactions, digital etiquette, online safety, information privacy, social media, peer pressure, and cyberbullying.

Students 3-5 create their own video about online safety through Adobe Express. Their videos are presented in the morning announcements and Fine Arts Showcase Night.

The PDFs are the lesson plans for the units.
