As the Media Specialist at Berkshire Elementary, I am very proud to be apart of this amazing school. My media program will offer 21st Century instruction, technology and the latest print and electronic collection for all our students, parents and teachers.
One of my goals is to teach students how to locate information, evaluate the information, analyze and synthesize the information through the FINDS Research Process Model that incorporates state and national standards. We will create, implement and evaluate many exciting motivational reading programs that assist in the academic growth of our students. These programs will not only increase students' reading skills, but also foster a great love for reading and information literacy. The love of reading is fundamental in the growth and improvement of all academic areas. Our media program will feature many motivational programs such as the Sunshine State Young Readers Jr. book selections, Sunshine State Readers- Battle of the Books for grades 3-5, Florida Reading Association for grades Pre-K-2, Reading Across America- Dr. Seuss Celebration, Storybook Parade, Author-In Residence, and Scholastic Book Fairs. Students will learn to love to read and make it an essential part of their lives. Ultimately, we want students to become life-long learners in an age of technology and information.
